Kano State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (Kano-NEWMAP) has embarked on construction of Soler powered boreholes across it affected communities in the State.
The State Project Coordinator Alhaji Musa Shuaibu disclosed this in an exclusive interview with journalists today in his office.
Alhaji Musa Shuaibu said that the activity which fall within the third component of the Project (climate change) aimed at providing efficient and sustainable source of water for drinking for both human, livestock and other domestic activities within the communities identified at the catchment.
It can be recalled that previously, the fragment of this activity had been undertaken, where farmers from the affected communities were trained on agricultural techniques that are not in conflict with natural environment and climate change, in extension.
The communities to benefit from this package include Bulbula/Gayawa in Nassarawa LGA, Tudun-fulani in Ungogo LGA, Kauyen-alu in Tarauni LGA, Kamanda in Kiru LGA, and Rarin in Dawaki-tofa LGA.
Others include Yartiti in Shanono, fajewa in Takai, Dawan-kaya in Makoda and Yansabo in Tofa LGAs respectively.
