The Edo State Project Coordinator of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP has led a delegation of the State Project Management Unit on a courtesy visit to the Otaru of Auchi Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Haliru Momoh, Ikelebe III.

Speaking at the Palace, Dr. Obaseki informed the traditional ruler that the contract and all safeguards instruments had been approved by the World Bank for the Flood Alleviation and Protection Construction works in Igbei Quarters, Auchi.

He added that the Public Disclosure of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), to take care of issues of compensation had been done and would be implemented shortly and assured the Otaru that NEWMAP would deliver on the project in the overall interest of the community.

The State Project Coordinator told the Ikelebe III and members of his Council that his visist was also to formally introduce the contracting firm for the Igbei flood control, Messrs China CAMC Engineering Company Limited.

Responding, the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Haliru Momoh thanked NEWMAP for the progress so far recorded on the project, the commencement of which the community had been eagerly looking up to.

The monarch expressed his readiness to make land available for the contractor to use as their base in order to facilitate the work and to assist in any other way.

He informed NEWMAP and the contractors of the existence of a Project Committee in charge of all projects being executed in the community and urged them to liaise closely with the Committee for necessary support.

The representative of China CAMC Engineering Company Limited, Mr. Li Hai Bo thanked the traditional ruler for the warm reception and pledged to execute the contract according to specifications and to the satisfaction of the community.
