The World Bank assisted Delta State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) has trained more than 1,000 farmers on her climate change adaptation farming scheme established in Obomkpa and Ukwu-Nzu communities in Aniocha North Local Government Areas of the State.
The Project Coordinator, Delta NEWMAP, Mr. Isaac Ufiofio disclosed this while making his opening remarks at a two-day climate change adaption project capacity building programme organized by Delta State NEWMAP in collaboration with the Project’s Individual Consultant at the respective communities at the weekend.
The NEWMAP Boss, represented by the Natural Resource Specialist, Mr. Benedict Nwaokocha, said the essence of the train-the-trainers farming programme was to teach the farmers and give them technical assistance to improve their farms’ yields and livelihoods throughout the year.
He said the training programme was also aimed to build the capacity of of the beneficiaries.
