She started her career with Legacy Pension Managers in 2006, when the new pension scheme was introduced, and contributed a lot to the success and growth of the Company; she left the Firm in 2009 to set up her own Legal Firm, L.S. Jatto and Co. in Abuja. Her passion for a clean environment and environmental sustainability, led her to launch the Green Hamper to stamp out the regular hamper in 2010. In July 2012, she was appointed Special Adviser on Environment to the Governor of Kogi State, a position she held until October, 2015. During her almost 4 years as Special Adviser, she initiated several environmental friendly projects, owing to her love for environmental sustainability. As a Special Adviser, she successfully facilitated the unprecedented visit of Baroness Valerie Amos, the United Nations’ Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (UN-OCHA) to Kogi State in 2013, thus making Kogi State the only northern state to be visited by the Under-Secretary during her visit to Nigeria. That singular visit led to the present partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Kogi State in various fields. Owing to her pursuit and desire for environmental excellence, she successfully facilitated the selection of Kogi State as the host of the 2014 National Ecological Fair tagged “Effective Partnership towards Sustainable Management of Ecological Projects”.

Additionally, in 2014, she successfully facilitated the hosting of the National Environmental Sanitation Day (NESD) commemoration on 11th and 12th July, in Kogi State. Indeed, this ‘Amazon’ is a lover of ecological equilibrium. Her dogged effort led to the modification of the Banda section of the on-going Abuja – Lokoja road construction work, leading to the increase in height of that section by 1 metre, in order to avert a recurrence of the flooding of that section of the road during the floods of 2012, which almost cut off the State from the northern part of the Country.

Worthy of mention is that Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto is also a writer. She writes a lot on environmental issues. Some of her write ups are:

  • Power of Climate Change
  • Air Pollution; the Earth Needs Help

The NEWMAP is a collaborative effort of participating states, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the World Bank, aimed at sustainably tackling erosion in erosion prone states participating in the Project.
