In line with World Bank procedures prior to the commencement of Civil works at approved sites of the Project, the Abia State Government through the Abia NEWMAP has commenced compensation of Project Affected Persons at Umuagbai and Uratta communities in Aba.
This is coming after the various committees which include the Site, Grievance Redress and Resettlement Action Plan Committees have been set up in the two communities. The three committees comprise of eight (8) members each.
A total number of forty five (45) Project affected Persons got compensations for their lands, crops and means of livelihood whereas thirty eight (38) are from Umuagbai community and seven (7) persons are from Uratta community.
Civil works are due to commence as soon as compensations have been completed.
