“The 3G Green Project in Gombe State is a good development,” said NEWMAP Project Coordinator, Engr. Mohammed Garba. In the same vein, Director Treasury, Alh. Aminu Yuguda agreed that it’s a new revolution that will take the state to greater heights.
The Gombe State green project is being supported by the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) and the target was to plant 4 million trees in 4 years. This initiative will subsequently be generating 27,000 direct jobs for the youth.
Engr. Garba disclosed that environmental challenges in Gombe State are not limited to desertification. The state is also prone to erosion problem, especially in the Gombe metropolis with a severe gully erosion and the planting of more trees is aimed at arresting the situation.
