The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project NEWMAP Sokoto has formally presented working tools to the Tradition Rulers for onward distribution to Community Associations in Mabera , Nakasare and Gagi areas that will be used for desilting of constructed drainages in the areas by The Project through Ministry of Environment in collaboration with World Bank.
Presenting the items in a brief ceremony held at the premises of Sokoto NEWMAP, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment who is also the Chairman Technical Committee for the NEWMAP Alhaji Muazu Abubakar Madawaki said, the materials will be used for desilting the drainages regularly to ensure its durability.
The working tools include wheelbarrows, helmets, Hand gloves, Rain boots, Rakes, Hoes, Face masks, Sanitizers, T-Shirts, and Pea Caps.
He called on them to make judicious use of the materials to achieve the desired results.
Receiving the materials, the District Head of Gagi Alhaji Sani Umar jabbi thanked the NEWMAP for the gesture and assured of judicious utilisation of the items.
The ceremony was attended by the Project Coordinator Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project NEWMAP Sokoto Alhaji Ibrahim Umar and other staff of the Project.
