The Environment Outreach Magazine, an environment and Development newsmagazine conferred a special Award on environmental protection to Mr. Salisu Dahiru, National Project Coordinator, and NEWMAP
The Award, tagged “2016 Environmental Protection and Support Award” was in recognition of the positive impact and success recorded by NEWMAP across the intervention sites in the projects first mover states: Abia, Anambra, Cross river, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu and Imo.
According to the Publisher, Chief Noble U. Akenge FNES the Award was in recognition of Salisu’s commitment, hard work, and passion in protecting the environment through his numerous activities, as well as the life saving interventions of NEWMAP which he as National Coordinator has successfully piloted towards the delivery of the project development objectives.
Chief Akenge noted that the Award was part of the 7th Annual Environment Outreach Magazine public lecture/environmental Awards ceremony organized by the organization on 4th August, 2016 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. The event was chaired by Mr. John Odey, former Minister of Environment with Ms. Amina Mohammed, Hon. Minister of Environment as the guest lecturer.
Responding the NEWMAP National Coordinator noted that the success achieved so far was the outcome of team work and doggedness of staff. He also expressed profound appreciation for the consideration of the Award.
Other eminent persons nominated for the 2016 Environmental Awards in various categories includes Barrister Babatunde Fashola, Hon. Minister Power, Works and Housing, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State; Governor Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe State; and Her Excellency, Mrs. Olufunso Amosu, Wife of Ogun State Governor amongst others.
